Learning Objectives
- Understand the nature of negotiation. Interests, goals, and cooperation are ambiguous and often do not have “right” answers. Follow a repeatable process to analyze negotiating situations.
- Gain a broad intellectual understanding of the central concepts in negotiation. These concepts are the building blocks that can be systematically applied to evaluate any negotiation.
- Improve the ability to analyze the behavior and motives of negotiators in settings that have both competitive and cooperative elements.
- Develop high-level experience in the negotiation process, including learning to evaluate the costs and benefits of alternative actions and how to manage the negotiating conversation.
