Government Relations 101:
How do you build an effective association government affairs program? This session focuses on fundamentals from developing a legislative agenda and leveraging grassroots to building coalitions and tracking legislation to influence the outcome of issues that affect your members.

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will understand the basics of designing and implementing an effective association government affairs program, including:

1. Internal process: How to create a committee structure and decision-making process that ensures the association’s legislative agenda aligns with its mission.
2. Advocacy Strategies: Practical and effective advocacy strategies, including basic lobbying skills, leveraging grassroots, and building coalitions.
3. Navigating the Legislative Process: Understanding the legislative lifecycle, complying with ethics regulations and other rules, as well as resources for monitoring legislation.
